  1. Acquisitions - need the ability to limit/filter search to Fiscal Year of Suppliers for Invoices or Purchase Orders. Currently, if we look at a Suppliers order history, or invoices, we see everything since we migrated to Polaris.
Sometimes, we need to see how much we are spending with a specific vendor and/or need to see an on-order list with a supplier.

  2. In the staff client if you accidentally have an item record open during a bulk change that includes that item, it will provide an error after the change happens and the change won't happen to the item record that was left open. There should be a warning that alerts the user to close the item record before they can make the bulk change.

  4. This undo function would provide the ability to separate two records that were accidentally combined so they go back to being attached to their original, individual POs, have their original items attached, and have their original hold lists attached.

Example: If a regular print record and a large print record for a title with a list of holds on each were accidentally combined, catalogers would have to split the large print items out by creating a second record and move the appropriate “on order” items to that record. The newly created record wouldn’t be able to be linked back to…

  6. When staff are placing individual holds for a patron Leap and the Desktop client allow staff to use the pickup branch as the branch where the staff member is logged in*. For libraries with centralized call centers it would be helpful to offer to use the patron's preferred branch when placing the hold request for the patron.

Of course, this will need to be cleared indicated to the staff member what their preferred location is as they should still verbally confirm that is the location they want to use.

It might also be nice to have a SA setting that…

  7. The way the PAC currently works, the three buttons on the right of each search result (Availability, Full Display, and Place Request) always appear if the bib is for a physical item, but only "Full Display" appears for e-resources. This indicates that the PAC already has the capability to suppress these buttons if conditions specific to the search result are met. It would be helpful if this ability could be expanded so that if all the items attached to a bib record for a physical item are not holdable, the "Place Request" button does not appear. The appearance of that…

  8. Having patrons blocked from placing holds if there account is blocked is greatly needed, as patrons can currently place holds through Leap, Vega, Mobile App even if they are blocked for having too many fines.

  9. It would be helpful to have an indicator for if a patron has circulation blocks in the response of the AuthenticatePatron API endpoint. This would allow vendors and custom integrations to determine if a patron should be allowed access to a system based on if they are allowed to checkout items without having to do an additional API call.

  10. Indian Trails Library has had a large flux in separated families with parents living in two different library districts. The parents want to keep their accounts separate. According to IL these children are entitled to have a library card with each parent when they reside at both addresses.

Also, we have several members with two properties in different library districts. A few times now the accounts were merged and the members have been upset with the library even though we placed notes on the member's account not to merge the accounts.

A "Do Not Merge" checkbox added to the Registration…

  11. When constructing an order, the latest ISBN from the bib record is used. It would be helpful if instead, the vendor could put the preferred ISBN/UPC into the 970 and when the PO was built, that PO number could be pulled from the 970 for the library rather than displaying a red exclamation and requiring the staff to manually check the PO to make sure Polaris selected the proper ISBN/UPC from the order record.

  12. In our previous ILS, on the patron's checked out items list, we could see the date of when the item had been checked out as well as the due dates. I know that staff can go into the item record to see who, where and when it was checked out, but it would be nice to be able to see what all was dealt with at the same time.

  13. When deduplicating hold requests, Polaris looks at title, author, and material type. Therefore, it doesn't allow our customers to place holds on the same video game title for different consoles.

Please also consider UPC during the hold request duplicate detection process.

  14. Leap should include the ability to create or add to an item record from the check-in workform. Most of the functionality is already there in that items can be selected via checkboxes and all items can selected from the topmost checkbox. By adding the option to the Actions menu, circ staff could quickly roll items over into a record set for a variety of other uses.

  15. In 7.7, we now have the option to do INN-Reach check in, which is phenomenal! It has sped up this process immensely, making for happier staff and patrons.

However, the speed has brought with it some unexpected snags: The biggest at present being the color of the 'return uncirculated' toast as compared to normal INN-Reach processing.

Using Request Manager to receive INN-Reach items, the note that a 'patron no longer wants this item' was thrown front and center using standard Polaris work form coloration (which necessitated a more thorough reading of popups). If an item was still desired by a…

  16. Sometimes I have a lot of records open in the workform tracker, and it's a pain to have to go into each to close it. It would be useful to have a button I could quickly click to close them instead.

In cases where a record has been modified it should generate a prompt about saving changes, and show you the record again in this case so it's clear what's being saved.

  18. The ability to create keyboard shortcuts to insert (paste) pre-defined text. Prior to the advanced marc editor added in Polaris 7.6, our catalogers were able to use the program QuickPaste in which we had lines and lines of pre-defined text often used in creating bib records. This was a huge time saver and this no longer works with marc editor.

Some examples of text we programmed are as follows:
Ctrl+Alt+B – opens a list of pre-defined text which our catalogers could select from when creating book records.
    ‡atext‡btxt‡2rdacontent > inserted into the 336 field
    ‡avolume‡bnc‡2rdacarrier > inserted into the 338…

  19. Currently, when working through Picklist processing, items can be marked as "Located". While this is useful for in-library work flow to indicate that it has been found, it doesn't do anything to prevent another member library or branch location from filling the hold request when trapped at point of check-in. This causes problems in a multi-branch or larger consortia system where there is a higher chance of popular material being checked in throughout the day.

Ideally, it would be great if marking an item as "Located" not only changed the status from the Picklist, but also prevented another item from…

  20. Currently there is only the option to display serials in Vega at the serial holdings record level. It would be helpful to have the ability to prevent specific publication patterns from displaying in records with multiple publication patterns.
