  1. When creating a new item record on a bib, it would be wonderful if while typing in the volume field, Leap automatically suggested volumes from other items attached to that particular bib. This would help ensure standardization of how the volume is entered on each item record (eg. V.1 vs V. 1 vs. V.01) while also allowing the libraries to add a new volume number for volumes 2, 3, etc. since it would suggest while typing rather than changing the volume field to be a drop down menu of pre-defined options.

  2. Currently cutting and pasting from OCLC Connexion Client into Polaris is cumbersome. Allow for complete fields and their delimiters to paste into Polaris seamlessly.

When we create a weeding record set, before sending it to the approval dashboard for review, we'd like to have a way to mark items in the set as "not found" or some other indication that the item is not on the shelf. Right now we can update items individually to another status (missing for example) or remove them from the record set. We would like the ability streamline this and mark the item directly in the weeding record set.

  4. Allow each library to specify specific material types(?) to not be allowed to be picked up in certain pickup areas. Example would be a wi-fi hotspot not being allowed to be picked up in a locker.

  5. Polaris supports a preferred pickup branch for patrons. This request is to extend that support to allow the patron to set a preferred pickup area.

    Many patrons prefer to 100% always use a particular pickup area, for example outside lockers. So, they shouldn't have to select that area everytime they make a request.

    This would allow them to set their own preferred pickup area the way they can set a preferred pickup branch. This preferred pickup area should also be used when the staff bulk places a title on hold for a batch of patrons, again the same way the…

  6. It would be helpful if Polaris could integrate with Skyward and TeacherEase Student Integration Systems. We currently provide service for a number of K-12 schools and it would be helpful if fines/fees could be transferred to the primary system a school uses.

  7. It would be nice if from the staff side in Polaris and LEAP we could select whether to notify the patron if an item they placed on hold gets cancelled. Sometimes we have to cancel holds for various reasons and LEAP is often faster in notifying the patron with no context when their request was cancelled which can cause confusion for the patron. Staff should get the option of whether a patron gets notified or not and if possible, if we could have the option to add a message to the cancel notification they get.

  8. We would like Polaris to transition expired patrons to Deleted after a specified time frame. (Such patrons would of course need to have no lost items or checkouts.) We envision this working like Lost Item Transition and the Missing Item Transition. Ideally, we could also set a fine threshold to only delete those expired patrons with less than a certain amount of fines on their cards.

    Adding this feature would allow a library to automatically remove expired patrons and allow for a more streamline process for deleting the ones they wanted.

  9. Currently there is no mechanism to limit the number of active Borrower by Mail requests a patron can have. It would be beneficial for all libraries to be able to limit the number of active BBM requests a patron can have in Polaris.

  11. In Leap Serials, the ability to select multiple issues and then click check in is needed for large libraries to use Leap Serials, exclusively. The workflow of selecting each individual issue and then clicking check in is slow and tedious.

  12. We would like to be able to adjust the timeout in Leap after inactivity ourselves. Currently, we have to contact support to do this after each upgrade, since it resets itself. If the setting was in SA, we could reset it ourselves after each upgrade.

  14. Adding the patron modification date and the name of the last modifier of a patron record would allow staff to narrow down when records were modified and by whom. The ability to track these changes would be particularly useful to Outreach staff who may need the statistical information about patron records they modified while working off site. Ideally, this addition should be added to the report outputs in SimplyReports and added to Leap as well so that public service staff can easily access this information.   15. When items are checked out through SIP2, Polaris includes the "You just saved __ by using the library" text in the response. However, this information is not available when using the ItemCheckout method through PAPI.

    As we start moving vendors away from SIP2 and towards PAPI, we'd like to replicate the functionality of SIP2.

  16. In the Item tab of the popup window for a patron's overdue charge properties, the "Check Out date" indicates the item's last renewal date, rather than its actual check out date. A more helpful date to see would be the original check out date; this would also better suit the title for this line.

  17. Some locations need to apply both a distributed tax and a header tax to invoices (in Canada a PST and a GST). Currently, Polaris adds the percentage from the distributed tax to the header tax, so the total is higher than it should be. Libraries can work around this by reducing the header amount by the percentage of the distributed amount, but this is a fiddly process and sometimes results in rounding errors.

  18. We had a front-line staff member contact us because he was getting a "The domain, username or password is incorrect" error message when he tried to log in to Leap. Support was able to tell us that he was locked out because he had incorrectly typed his password five times. They confirmed that the error message that will be shown when this happens is "The domain, username or password is incorrect." Not only is that error message text factually untrue, it is identical to the error message that a staff person sees if their password actually IS being entered incorrectly.…

When inputting information for an ILL request for a patron, our ILL clerk would like there to be a field where she can input the OCLC number of the item she is wanting directly into the hold request. That way when she exports the request, it will directly sync with the item she wants, without having to use ISBN.

When a serial holdings record includes a pattern for a completely irregular issue, and the only chronology date on the issue is the year, the chronology day and month chosen when the publication pattern was set up is used for all following issues checked in using that pattern. The ability to manually adjust the chronology date would be very helpful, and would ensure that issues display in the correct order.
