  1. Currently, incoming requests are assigned from the INN-Reach central server to a specific copy in the catalog. If for some reason that item cannot be found or used, staff must undertake a lengthy multi-step process to transfer the item-level hold to another copy.

    Keeping the hold at the bib level and letting Polaris assign it to an item will reduce the time it takes to transfer INN-Reach holds between copies will save a lot of staff time in communicating and processing, and further will reduce delays in getting the request fulfilled and sent out.

  2. Our Access Services staff use the Reader Services tab and the Note field to list patron details to assist with readers advisory for elderly and homebound patrons.

    They use the Preferences options to some degree, but have noticed a character limit in the Note field, which requires them to use abbreviations to fit their details. They asked: "Is there a way for Polaris to increase the character limit of the Note field in the reader services tab? Is there a way to increase the viewable space as well?"

  3. When we are done using a routed periodical we have no way of checking in the issue for deletion. We don't assign a barcode to these issues so it will not allow a check in. We need ability to either delete a periodical in a Routed status or a quick way to un-route to then allow us to delete.

    Right now staff are forced into the item record and assign a barcode like "1", save record. Check in item. Then they can delete.

  4. When leap offline data is uploaded, it goes into [LeapOfflineTransactionDataID]. This contains PII information of the items & patrons that performed CKOs. However, this data is never cleared by the system, even after it is processed.

    I can see keeping it around for awhile, but maybe have it follow one of the other settings in SA for purging data or set up a new SA setting for purging this PII data.

  5. Please add a drop-down box for the profile section of registration. There is a drop-down box for the address section labeled term but there is not one for the profile section. It makes it easier for staff to choose the correct date. In the Polaris toolbar, there is a drop-down box for patron info and address.

  6. When an item record set is viewed on a tablet or mobile device in Leap, the record set layout changes to accommodate the change in screen size. This includes the Shelf Location column no longer displaying. Staff create item record sets for displays and when they go out into the stacks with Leap on a tablet to pull the items, not having the Shelf Location included slows them down as they have to open the item records individually.

  9. Our previous LMS had functionality within the Solus app, where we could enter a collection code in the Solus CMS, and as new items were added in the collection it would automatically feed into a new items carousel on the app. It was a "set and forget" feature.

    With Polaris, it looks like our only options are to enter Bib IDs or ISBNs, or manually create & update Record Set IDs.

    It would be a great time saver if there was an option for an automated new items carousel. We raised the issue with our account manager who spoke to…

  13. Currently, when a user clicks on the library’s logo in the PAC header, we can specify a URL that opens. However, when they click it, the URL defaults to opening in the same page rather than in a new tab, causing the user to lose their PAC page and possibly their search results.

    It would be helpful to have a branch-level option to change that default to open a new tab instead. It could be included with the other configuration options under Profiles > PowerPAC > Page Header Options in System Administration.

  14. It would be very helpful to have a more robust item record history. It appears that only the last 12 months of item history is available. It would be great if Polaris would:
    A) keep the history of changes in the item record forever
    B) improve the data that is stored and presented to staff, for example, so we could see what exactly was edited on 7-26-23 in the screenshot attached. Perhaps by clicking on the entry and having the information pop up.

  15. We would like to see additional information and functions available in the Polaris Client or LEAP so that staff have more resources and information to support customers with questions about online resources.

    For example, library staff would benefit from seeing real-time hold information in Polaris about items on Overdrive or Hoopla. Currently, Polaris shows an asterix (*) under holds. Library staff need to either go to the PAC or Overdrive to provide customers with this information.   17. It would be useful for administrators and reporting if item records were not physically deleted from the database. Maybe the introduction of an additional item record status that leaves the record in the database but excludes it from all aspects but reporting and administrator access?

    In our case we need to report periodically on item records being deleted. Once the record has been double deleted by a branch, I can no longer see it in Polaris, so I am relying upon spreadsheets captured at different points in time to capture the necessary data.   20. Be able to bulk add stat codes. Currently we can only add at the branch level manually because the library and system level tables are too large. This requires a manual change or contracting Polaris every time we want to add stat codes for all locations.
