  1. There can be accounts that are expired and are still able to check out ebooks. Expired accounts are no longer valid and should be blocking at least in the integration function between the ebook vendor and Polaris.
If this isn't possible, can the checkout action trigger an email notice to the customer to have their library account renewed or reviewed.
This should happen each day an integrated eContent transaction occurs.
Keeping the account up to date will prevent the account from being closed or purged.

  2. The API currently doesn't have a way to add a fee to a patron account. The use case where we'd want this is that we use a third party for online self-registration. They offer t he ability to differentiate between resident and non-resident accounts, but to use the non-resident option, we'd need to have a fee added when the account was created.

  3. Idea Value:
In Circulation Request Manager include the option to be able to export every ILL Request from every branch location at once. Libraries will benefit from having the export all ILL Requests option, being able to retrieve all ILLs at once, instead of having to select each branch individually and right-click to export each item.

  4. Patrons set up "saved search results" and can receive email notifications on a regular basis.

Unfortunately the language within those emails are misleading for patrons where the top of the email says "New items of interest at your library" , the middle of the message "The following saved searches returned these new results", but then at the bottom of the email the message says "this search found no new results" (See pictures). When reaching out to customer support reps, they informed us this is hard coded and cannot be changed in sysadmin or language editor.

    In a future upgrade, it…

  5. Currently, the PAC override password, available in Profiles -> PAC -> Patron Access Options -> Log In tab, is a static, set and forget password. Often, that password is indeed forgotten because it's not used all that often. However, when it is used, there's a good reason for it. I believe this remains useful functionality, but I also believe that a static, universal patron access password is a security issue for patrons and staff alike.

My idea is that, if an ILS Admin needs a PAC override password to troubleshoot an issue on the PAC or within Vega, then one…

  6. It would be nice if we could separate the "holds ready for pick up" texts from the "renew" texts and be able to choose if you want one or the other or both. Customers would love to get a text for when their holds come in, but for some, the renewal texts are too much, and the pick up texts get lost in the volume. Then also, have the option to get renewals and/or pick up notices in their email.

  7. With the increased scrutiny on children's books, we are looking for ways to offer parents opt-in access to their child's account activities.

Our suggestion is to expand functionality for associated accounts. Associations allow staff to link parents to their children's accounts, and access those accounts easily. However, from the parent's dashboard when they login to PAC, they are unable to view or manage their associated accounts.

We would like parents to be able to see what is checked out to their children's account. An adult is already required for any cards registered to minors, so it makes sense for a…

  8. Currently the picklist processing report is as-is with no options to modify.

We've found it would be helpful for our library to have the last activity date to display when printing the picklist as items may have been returned within the last few days and on their way to being re-shelved or possibly on shelf for years & actually missing. Thinking others may have additional fields that would be of use to them as well.

It would be a helpful enhancement for staff to have the ability to choose additional fields to customize & re-arrange the columns on the picklist…

  9. When the theme's scss file is edited and compiled, the version parameter on the stylesheet link in the HTML does not update. This means that browsers don't know to pull the updated css from the server if they have it cached, so the css updates won't apply for all users immediately due to browser caching. Here's an example of the line in the HTML with the version parameter:

    <link type="text/css" rel=""https://yourlibrary.org/polaris/custom/themes/theme1/site.css?ver=7.1.14157.0">

It looks like the version parameter is based on the Polaris version, so I'm guessing it's automatically updated whenever Polaris is upgraded, but that doesn't help for theme adjustments…

  10. In LEAP, please add the ability for a user to create a bibliographic record set from a file of ISBNs or Control Numbers..

    Idea Value
LEAP can create item record sets using an 'add from file' option that uploads item records by barcode - and LEAP can create a patron record set by uploading a file of Patron IDs.

We would like to have a similar function that allows us to create a bibliographic record set by uploading a file of ISBNs or Control Numbers.

  11. I propose that if the patron limitation is zero for a material type check out then the item will not be trapped for the patron. They will stay on the top of the holds list until an item that does not have a material type of zero for that patron type is checked in and trapped. Thus making the material type check out limit of zero a true material type block.

    Background:
When placing bib holds sometimes items on that bib will have different material types. These different material types will sometimes have limitations on the amount that can be…

  12. Hi there! We just had a situation with a patron where several items they returned in the book drop on 6/30 were checked in today 7/5, however they were back-dated to accommodate for the days the library was closed and prevent fees from accruing. But upon viewing the history in Leap for each of those items, the check-in date displays as 7/5 and does NOT show the 5 days back-date, which would've been 6/30. This is very confusing and misleading, as our patron spoke to the owning library about the items and the owning library said 'New Milford checked those…

  13. I'm repeatedly finding instances where a patron is missing their registration date. At first, I thought it was migrated data, but after updating those records, I discovered it happening over and over. Please prevent the registration date from being deleted.

    Idea Value
We have some third-party applications that break if there isn't a registration date. Also, we use that date for statistics and to narrow down results.

  15. All use of Secure patron when customer has checkouts, holds, etc.

The secure patron function in Leap does almost exactly what we need for what we call suspended patrons (those not allowed on library property) - it blocks a customer's record and provides a clear, visual indicator that the account has been secured.

I can't use it though and had to create a workaround to accomplish much the same thing because Secure Patron is only an option when the patron has no account activity. This makes no sense and renders the function unusable.

  16. In the Find Tool, allow users to filter by a library organization's branches by selecting a library 'quick pick' option. This would eliminate the need for a system used by multiple libraries to click each branch associated with their organization.

    Idea Value
In the Find Tool, in order to filter a search for an item with an assigned branch within our library organization, we are required to select the checkbox next to each branch from the drop-down menu. We have over 20 branches, which makes the filter cumbersome. We would like to be able to select all of our branches…

  17. In Leap relabel the current submit Close button to Receipt. Add an additional button next to it called Close that that would close the record check out the material but would not generate a paper receipt print dialog box etc.

    Idea Value
This would save paper for those libraries that have suppressed the print dialog box in their browsers for Leap and patrons that did not want a paper receipt.

  18. A customer contacted us recently and asked if we could possibly add a feature where lists can be sorted alphabetically by title. Since this functionality isn't currently available in the API, I wonder if it could be added?

  19. We'd like added the ability to purge report downloads from SimplyReports that are sitting in user folders. This would include deleting ad hoc report, scheduled report, and saved report extracts from their respective user folders after a specified number of days.

Currently these settings are listed under the Admin section of SimplyReports, but we only found out recently there is no process tied to the settings. We'd like to see this functionality built. Details about their unavailability can be found in the SimplyReports help article "Set the general application defaults" (bottom).

    Idea Value
We have several users with years of…

  20. We had a staff member let us know that they had a credit on their personal account and they found the process of dealing with the credit to be a little frustrating. The credit did not automatically apply to their other fees and there was no way for them (as a patron) to tell the system to apply the credits. The only option was for the patron to get in touch with staff to have this taken care of. This would give the patrons more flexibility for managing their account.

It might be nice to provide more options for how…
