API reading history sortable by title or last added
We have had multiple patron requests to be able to sort reading history delivered by API by latest added or by title. Currently reading history is displayed with the oldest first which results in a lot of scrolling by the user.

Include Fulfilled Holds in the Holds History for a Bib Record
I would like to see a history of all holds on a bib record kept with the date of activation, not just those that were cancelled. I use this information to adjust how many copies of popular authors to pre-buy by looking at how many holds were placed on an author's previous released title(s) prior to release date.

Ability to place holds on all items in a record set
From time to time, we have need to place all items on a record set on hold to call them in for a specific purpose. It would be great to have the ability to select all or some items within a record set and click a place hold button and then have the option to move the request for each of these items to the top of queue.
Idea Value
This would make functions so much faster and easier. For example, right now, I need to place item level holds on a couple dozen checked out items to inspect them…129 votes -
Add Custom Data Fields to Item Records
Patron records have 5 UDFs and 10 Custom Data Fields – item records have none of these. As a result, many libraries end up doing some weird stuff with the Name of Piece and Temporary Shelf Location. This idea would add 10 or so custom item record fields that libraries can choose how they would like to use.
Ideally, fields would be capable of multiple data types including freetext, Boolean, date, or numeric. In a perfect world, it could also support a drop down list like the UDFs! The fields would also be searchable in the find tool, just like…

Improved SIP communication for holds
Per the Polaris support team as of September 2023, SIP2 only supports communication about holds where the associated item is in "Held" status. Holds requests in other statuses are 'invisible' to third-party services communicating with Polaris through SIP. When I brought this up, our site manager recommended putting in an enhancement request. Apparently there were some older ones on IdeaLab that have not been carried over to Idea Exchange.
I was skeptical that there would be anything Clarivate could do from within an ILS to make this change since it sounded like a SIP limitation rather than an ILS limitation,…

Update Block in PAC/SIP to include fine limits
Currently, when the If patron is blocked: Block in PAC/SIP option under the Staff Client and PAC tab of the Hold Options parameter is enabled, patrons are only blocked from placing a request if they exceed the hold limits for their Patron Code.
We would like for this blocking to also include the 2nd level fine amount, similar to how their request would be blocked in the staff client/Leap when the Block in Staff Client option is enabled.

Show branch and barcode for item-level holds in Leap
Our Cataloging staff frequently have to place item-level holds on multiple items from the same bib record when making updates to the collection. Currently in Leap, these holds display in the patron's account with only the title, format, and call number. From this information it is impossible to tell which specific items have been placed on hold. Including the barcode and the assigned branch of the item would make it easier to tell different item-level holds apart when the items all have the same title.

Add electronic signature option to online registration
We are interested in going paperless and no longer using registration cards but we would still like to collect patron signatures. Can Leap/Polaris allow for electronic signature collection?

Autoprint hold slips in Leap bulk check in
One of the key hold ups to staff embracing Leap over the staff client at our library is the need to click continue or press the enter key to generate a hold slip for EVERY item triggering a hold in bulk check in. We are a large, RFID library and these added key strokes required for processing pulled requests and book drop are a primary complaint and Leap adoption deterrent for our staff.

Display additional record types in "Recent" workform tracker
The "Recent" tab in the Leap Workform Tracker lists recently-accessed patron, item, and bibliographic records. Now that additional record types are available in Leap, it would be helpful to have additional record types listed in the "Recent" tab, including but not limited to:InvoicesPurchase OrdersRecord Sets
Idea Value
The "Recent" tab in the workform tracker is a helpful tool that allows staff to easily reopen records that have been recently closed. Adding additional record types to the recent tab would be helpful for all staff, especially technical services staff that are transitioning to Leap.71 votes -
Copy to create new INLI in Leap
In Polaris, when you are in an INLI you can click the New button you get the option to Copy Existing Work Form. The new INLI retains some values from the existing one (e.g. fund, title, author).
In LEAP you need to exit the INLI, and then click the New Line Item button, which does not fill in any of the information. Makes adding line items slower and more repetitive when you need to re-enter everything.24 votes -
Enter manual patron notifications (esp calls) into the Notifications History
Calls to a patron to notify them of books on hold can't be added to Polaris.
It would be especially helpful if we could manually add notifications (even if we manually email a patron) and the appropriate reason/time into the notifications history. I've seen a "dated notes" suggestion here but don't feel these are the same.

Driver's License Scanning for Leap
Our Polaris Staff Client has the option to scan a patron's driver's license to autofill their registration information. It would be great for Polaris Leap to also have this feature.

Material loan limit by pickup branch
We have a Bookmobile service that is setup as it's own branch as well as a holds pickup location. With the limited capacity of this "pickup location", we are trying to restrict the material type loan limit block by location instead of by branch association.
It would help to have some sort of Policy Table that does Material Type Loan Limit by Branch Pickup Location.
Idea Value
This would filter out items that cannot be picked up on the Bookmobile Branch to stop patrons from placing the hold and avoiding staff to have to manually cancel the hold and follow…4 votes -

Patron last name display in Leap
Currently, customers' first, middle and last names display identically in Leap patron accounts. This can make identifying the last name difficult which impacts staff ability to properly address customers and to accurately retrieve holds for customers with more than 1 last name. We propose bolding or in some other way making more distinctive in the patron account header any values in coming from the last name field in patron registration. Currently, we often have to click into patron registration in order to determine which name(s) are actually in the last name field when retrieving holds, etc. Making this change would…

Set max limit of holds by material type
Being able to set a max limit on the number of holds by material type (or Collection) would be beneficial for items that are perpetually popular but additional copies cannot be purchased.
I.e. Museum passes - 500 bib level holds limit
this would also help to ensure hold request does not lapse due to long wait times14 votes -
Provide direct link to item record from hold request in Leap
It's currently very easy to see handling details for received INN-Reach and Item level local holds in hold shelf status from the hold request in Leap (by clicking Satisfied By). In these cases, only the item that has filled the request appears. It is NOT at all easy to get to these details for other hold shelf and hold in transit items that originated with a bib-level hold request. When clicking Satisfied By for these requests, you see all items attached to the bib record plus their activity, requiring add'l detective work to narrow down the specific copy that filled…

Transitioning claims returned to Lost after a set time and adding a bill
We would like to have to option for claims returned items to automatically go to Lost after a set time and adding bill to the patron.
Idea Value
This would take out the manual process of chasing up items that have been put to claims returned/never had.14 votes -
Add "create fee" endpoint to the API
The API currently doesn't have a way to add a fee to a patron account. The use case where we'd want this is that we use a third party for online self-registration. They offer t he ability to differentiate between resident and non-resident accounts, but to use the non-resident option, we'd need to have a fee added when the account was created.
