Option to require selection of a Collection when adding item records
We would like the ability to made Collection a required field when adding item records. While we can instruct all of our members to have Collections selected as part of their templates, there is still the possibility of forgetting and having items that are missing a collection. Having a collection at minimum, and ideally collection and shelf location combination set on each item greatly helps wayfinding for the patrons, and we'd like Polaris to allow us to enforce selection of at least a Collection. Exclude ebooks from "Book" Material Type for searching
Currently, when limiting a search to the material type "Book", electronic resources (eBooks) are displayed as well. It would be nice if the material type "Book" only produced physical book results.

bulk add "stat code"
Be able to bulk add stat codes. Currently we can only add at the branch level manually because the library and system level tables are too large. This requires a manual change or contracting Polaris every time we want to add stat codes for all locations.

Solus app integration - automated new items carousel
Our previous LMS had functionality within the Solus app, where we could enter a collection code in the Solus CMS, and as new items were added in the collection it would automatically feed into a new items carousel on the app. It was a "set and forget" feature.
With Polaris, it looks like our only options are to enter Bib IDs or ISBNs, or manually create & update Record Set IDs.

Enhanced Data fields in SimplyReports
We would like to have more enhanced data fields within SimplyReports in order to help users create reports that can fit their needs a bit better. For example, we recently ran into an issue where a staff member wanted a field that can indicate status descriptions for Lost/Unpaid or Lost/Accruing. In this case, it was explained that there would need to be a combination of patron account information, item status information and library settings needing to be available in order for this to work. Can possibly looked into for the future?

Inventory Check-in
Inventory Check-in via Leap is recorded as Check-ins for Item Statistic reports in SimplyReports. A way to filter inventory check-ins from statistical reports would be nice.

Ability to import files in Leap other than .dat, .mrc,.txt., .xml
We receive vendor records with file extensions .FIL and .001. We are able to import these in the Client but are not able to import them in Leap.

PAC Header URL
Currently, when a user clicks on the library’s logo in the PAC header, we can specify a URL that opens. However, when they click it, the URL defaults to opening in the same page rather than in a new tab, causing the user to lose their PAC page and possibly their search results.
It would be helpful to have a branch-level option to change that default to open a new tab instead. It could be included with the other configuration options under Profiles > PowerPAC > Page Header Options in System Administration.

Add a link for the serials holding record to serial bib records (in Leap)
Please add a link for the serials holding record to the bib record for serials, either under the Links menu or by displaying the serials record ID. Because the search box in Leap only retrieves bib records, often staff forget that they are looking at the bib record for a serial and so they have to perform a new search using the Find tool to get to the holding record. Ability to assign a specific cataloging fund to Opening Day Collection orders in Polaris
Opening Day Collection orders are created when large numbers of new books and videos are needed to either create an entirely new collection for a branch or to partially replace a collection. Large orders tend to produce large quantities of invoices; for this reason, streamlining all possible aspects of invoice payments is essential to help expedite payments for these orders. It would be very helpful to all libraries if Polaris offered functionality to assign a specific cataloging fund to Opening Day Collection orders. New Item record status - logical deletion
It would be useful for administrators and reporting if item records were not physically deleted from the database. Maybe the introduction of an additional item record status that leaves the record in the database but excludes it from all aspects but reporting and administrator access?
In our case we need to report periodically on item records being deleted. Once the record has been double deleted by a branch, I can no longer see it in Polaris, so I am relying upon spreadsheets captured at different points in time to capture the necessary data. More Configuration Options For Hold Pickup Slips
We would like to be able to have more options for configuring the Hold Pickup Slip. Our current hold pickup slip is printed using an older piece of Bibliotheca RFID software that is no longer supported. The software allows us to configure the position, orientation and font size of each element on the hold slip. We are also able to select the number of characters to print for each of those elements, for example, first 3 characters of the last name, first character of the first name, etc.

Polaris integration with Kajeet
More and more libraries circulate mobile wifi hotspots to the public. Polaris and Polaris Leap do not currently integrate with Kajeet, which is one of the more popular wifi hotspot providers for schools and libraries. It would be beneficial to libraries using the Polaris ILS to be able to streamline the circulation process such that checking in/out a hotspot in Polaris also activated/deactivated the hotspot itself.

Reassociate POLIs and INVLIs with correct bib
Allow POLIs and INVLIs to be moved by staff with the correct permissions to a different bib than they were ordered on.
We regularly order something that the vendor record matches to an ISBN in our catalog - sometimes this is because we have multiple ISBNs on a bib but the record is for a particular version, sometimes (mostly with AV) it is because the UPC has not been assigned as unique (rated and unrated versions, for example).

Ad hoc Patron Bulk Changes From Find Tool
Similar to the change in 7.6 for Item Changes, it would be beneficial to be able to make the ad hoc changes to patron records. Our libraries could easily change their Juvenile patrons to Adult patrons using the Find tool.

Import Profile Rention Tag - 020 shoudn't duplicate
When using import profiles for EDI ordering you must add the "retain 020" field in order for the 020 to overlay onto an existing bib record when ordering additional copies. This is annoying because each time you reorder, another 020 line gets stamped into the bib - adding more lines for Cataloging staff to delete when the item comes in.
If you remove the "retain 020 tag" no more duplicate 020s get stamped onto the bib, but also any new-to-the-bib 020 also does not get added. This is a problem especially with AV, where some vendors use a 020 tag…

Fix Collection Agency Report
The Collection Agency Report currently includes a field for RtrndMaterial.
Apparently whoever designed the report defined this field as "Value of material returned. (RetndMaterial)...The value is the sum of all replacement charges for lost or billed items that were originally charged by the reporting organization and that have been waived."
In other words, if your staff waives replacement charges, that gets reported to the Collection Agency as returned material, even though no material was returned and the library has gained nothing. This paints an unrealistic picture of the results of your collection efforts and allows the collection agency to suggest…

Ability to move rows in the Item Statistical Class Code policy table
It would be helpful if we could move rows up and down in the item statistical class code policy table. We have librarians transferring items between branches that have statistical class codes in them. The codes will automatically change to a different code when assigned to the new branch because the position of the code in the policy table does not align. The cataloger must remember to update that field to the correct code.
This would be beneficial to our librarians, simplify their workflow, and prevent errors.
