Support SFTP for WebPAC file upload
Organizations with restrictive security policies may be unable to use FTP over port 1021 (or any other port) for file transfer to Sierra WebPAC, since FTP is an inherently insecure protocol. For the same reasons, FTP should ideally not be in use at all (even where permitted by the customer's organization) since it entails sending login credentials in cleartext which makes it subject to interception and abuse.[1]
Without FTP, the only alternative is to use Web Master within Sierra Desktop App to upload files to make changes to Live or Staging WebPAC screens.
If Innovative implements Secure File Transfer Protocol…

Make URL report useful and launch URLs correctly
Idea Description
Fix the URL Checker "print" option to email, which can be useful to embed URLs and forward them to work on offline, but the columns on the report break the URLs and the report is useless since the full URL is forced to break based on a fixed pre-determined length of column. This would help both interactive / custom reports as well as a larger report of the list of errors. In example provided, anything not underlined in "blue" that wraps to a second line is a broken URL that will not launch.Idea Value

Spending Limit Pop-Up
I know its shocking when the subject of pop-ups in Sierra comes up that anyone would want "MORE!," but our Acquisitions staff would like to see a warning of fund spending over limit at invoicing in addition to ordering.
Their rationale is that shipping & Mylar costs usually cannot be pre-determined. Once posting happens, the fund goes negative. Since there is no going back, like when you're about to go down the chute at the end of Splash Mountain, there should be a warning.

Increase Invoice Cap
The current cap of 99 invoices downloadable per day can impede & dictate staff workflows.
Because of this, our Acquisitions staff must also set limits with vendors like Baker & Taylor, as we can receive more than 99 in a day. It would be optimal if they could download at will up to invoice limit.
Not all shipments are dealt with sequentially, which further complicates matters.

Show recall info in Manage Holds
When using Manage Holds, information about any recalls that have been issued for items on hold is not displayed.
This information can be found by consulting the item record (right click, "Edit item", then open the item) and checking for a "Recall Date" value, but it would be very helpful for us if this information could be included directly in the Manage Holds results. For example, the "Hold Status" column could include indication of recalls to provide a fuller picture of the situation at a glance.

Reading History via API
At this time it is apparently possible to retrieve the patrons Reading History via REST API sorted by date (oldest first or newest first). The most requested API enhancement request for us is to be able to retrieve the patrons Reading History via REST API sorted by Title. Another enhancement request is to be able to retrieve the patrons Reading History via REST API sorted by Author. This would be useful since users may have hundreds of items in the reading history.

Additional (Staff Only) Message Field In Patron Records
We have been considering enabling the display of the free text Message field in patron records in the WebPac (& a corresponding tab in Bibliocommons). It seems like an easy & useful way to quickly & effectively communicate with customers on issues related to their account.
For example, we might want to create a list of patron records at a library location that is closing for renovation to let them know that for the duration of the closing, their holds will be routed to another nearby branch. We'd apply the message to impacted patron records for as long as it's…

NCIP activity should update Circactive
Currently, authentication using the NCIP protocol does not update the CIRCACTIVE attribute in the patron account. We use this protocol to authenticate to a statewide ILL service and we'd like to know when cards are being used in this union catalog and not just our own.
We use CIRCACTIVE to determine which cards are being used and which ones aren't. This is useful for statistical purposes, but is also linked to our patron database purge process.

Update "last checkin" field even if item wasn't checked out
Update the "last checkin" field every time an item is checked in. Now, when you check in an item, the "last checkin" field is not updated if the item is not checked out. I don't know of any reason to not update it. When I look at an item record, I want to know the last date that the item was seen; this can be useful in tracking down items that seem to be missing, or coming up with a list of items that might be missing.

Increase Max Size of Item Code 1 Field
The Item Code 1 field was going to solve all my statistical issues. I thought it had 5 characters and each character could be 0-9 which meant I could assign a meaning to each character. For example, the first character indicates agency (1 for CPL, 2 for ADL, 3 for BKM) and the second character indicates audience (1 for adult, 2 for young adult, 3 for juvenile, 4 for other) and the third character, format, etc. HOWEVER it turns out that the largest number this field can hold is 32767 which is weirdly random and very limiting when you want…

add "did you mean" search logic to SDA keyword search
Circulation staff would like to see "did you mean" logic applied to the SDA keyword search. This is the top complaint from circulation staff who search the database to help customers place holds. Staff are used to a Google (or Discovery Catalogue) keyword search that has some flexibility for human error.

Automate moving YTDCIRC to LYRCIRC at year-end and don't update last updated date.
At the end of the year/before we open on January 2nd, we have to manually zero out the YTDCIRC and replace the LYRCIRC with YTDCIRC. Besides being time-consuming if you have a lot of records, this process also then changes the last updated date of the item record, which makes that date less helpful, especially for missing, lost, etc items. This should be done automatically, and it should not change the last updated date of the item record.

Exclude specific patron types from getting notices
Being in an academic library, we have certain patron types which function differently than other types. This applies particularly to the differences between a student patron type and a faculty patron type. It would be helpful for us to have the ability to exclude certain patron types from getting certain kinds of notices.

Print or create review file of only selected items in Headings Reports
In Headings Reports, it would be useful to send only selected listings to a printer or to export as a new review file. Currently if you try to select only a few of the total shown, it will print or export the entire report, not the selected listings.

Merge duplicate bib records
Can we please have a function to merge bib records? For many reasons libraries end up with duplicate bib records. Currently the only way "merge" a bib is to manually transfer any attached records one by one. This is a cumbersome and inefficient workflow.
The functionality could work similarly to the Merge duplicate patron record functionality.
This would allow the user to select the source record bib number and the destination record bib number.Ideally, the function should:
-Include the option to transfer any attached records.
-Any item or bib level holds attached to the source bib should also be…25 votesThe product manager will review this idea for possible inclusion in a future release.

Add New Patron Block Based On # of Items Claimed Returned
During the Circulation Forum at this week's IUG, a few libraries brought up their continued interest in going fine free, but also shared how they still faced challenges within their respective institutions from those who felt materials would not come back.
This is a realistic concern, especially for libraries that couple going fine free with the protracted loan periods made possible by autorenewals. It can sometimes be challenging to get customers to return things, so we appreciate the availability of patron blocks that will prevent checkouts, renewals, etc., but not penalize a customer financially, like the ability to suspend borrowing…

New Linked Patron logic : Link a patron record to a second patron with no reciprocal link.
Why is it important to link patrons?
- Without linked patron functionality someone that is authorized to pick up a hold on another account is complicated. This is manually done by staff using patron notes, and the authorized patron signs out the book leaving the original hold on the other patron record.
- Parents visiting the library with children would like to jump to the record of each child rather than using the child’s cards.
Current privacy and circulation workflow issues:
- Someone could link to the child record without authorization. If a patron is sharing their circulation details with someone, they should…
