give libraries the option to exclude ratings from Homebound circulation workflows
Our homebound customers love the Sierra reading history functionality, but tell us that they do not want the Library to give them a checkout receipt that includes an option to rate the title. They also tell us that they do not want their personal information on the receipt (and the library cannot edit the Homebound receipt template).
Additionally, circulation staff workflows are hindered because if a stack of homebound items are returned, they have to use the keyboard / mouse to move past the checkin rating prompts.

add "did you mean" search logic to SDA keyword search
Circulation staff would like to see "did you mean" logic applied to the SDA keyword search. This is the top complaint from circulation staff who search the database to help customers place holds. Staff are used to a Google (or Discovery Catalogue) keyword search that has some flexibility for human error.

Improving loan history
Our patrons are curious about their loan history. They would like to sort it by author or title in addition to the checkout date. We have told them to export it. But exporting the checkout history loses the checkout date! Could more sorting possibilities be added to the catalogue and checkout date added when exporting?

Increase Invoice Limit for Downloaded Invoices
The current cap of 99 invoices downloadable per day can impede & dictate staff workflows.
Because of this, our Acquisitions staff must also set limits with vendors like Baker & Taylor, as we can receive more than 99 in a day. It would be optimal if they could download at will up to invoice limit.
Not all shipments are dealt with sequentially, which further complicates matters.

Staff activity log
We occasionally have issues with staff abusing their ability to waive fines or deleting items inappropriately or accessing patron accounts outside of acceptable library operations. We would like to have a way to view these actions within a log file associated with each Sierra login (or filterable by login) so that these activities could be periodically audited by managerial staff and retroactively be reviewed when inappropriate system activities are believed to have taken place.

Increase minimum server account password length to 15 characters to meet PCI requirements
The automated tool employed by Clarivate support to update iii and iii-root passwords every 30 days has an 8 character limit, which falls short of PCI requirements (15 characters). The Sierra application server, which hosts the web page connecting to PayPal is in scope for PCI, and therefore login credentials that can edit that web page need passwords of 15 characters or more.

Delete and modify identity providers during SAML configuration
It is better to provide the option to delete the identity providers and modify the name of the identity provider by the administrator during SAML configuration.

Allow for Diacritics in E-mail Receipts
We've been exploring new ways that our library, as an institution, can meet the evolving interests of DEI efforts. One very small but meaningful way we thought we might do this is to allow for the inclusion of diacritic characters in customer names in Sierra.
Their inclusion appears as desired on the customer record when created/displayed in Sierra (images dia1 - dia2).
They do not appear to impede searching for the customer by name - the search just ignores them (images dia3 - dia4).
They appear as desired in the name display in the Classic Catalog (image dia5).
They appear…

Allow users to define icode1 in Sierra
Our library uses the icode1 field as a statistical category code. We'd like to be able to define our icode1 values, with codes and labels stored in Sierra and visible to staff. Currently we keep a list of codes and their meanings stored in a shared drive and have to share it with our cataloguers. Staff can see the "stat category" field in item records, but there's no translation anywhere in Sierra and the userdefinedicode1_myuser SQL view is blank.

Update print templates to support current release of Jaspersoft Studio.
The ability to create custom print templates is an essential component of many parts of the system. LX Starter is a viable replacement for the templates used for notices but not for the printing of things like due slips, spine labels, and hold slips that must remain within the SDA to support daily workflows.
Print templates are designed in a third party software called Jaspersoft Studio, but Sierra's documentation lists version 6.0 as being the last supported version of that software. However, that version is roughly 10 years old and the installer only seems to exist as an old link…
48 votesSupport for a newer version of Jaspersoft Studio will be provided in Sierra 6.7.

Have system-generated review files appear in the drop-down list in Global/Rapid Update
Idea Description
If system generated review files could appear in Global Update/Rapid Update Review File dropdown list without even downloading them to Create Lists first that would save so much time. It's a normal part of my daily workflow to upload records using Mobile Worklists or Data Exchange, copy them into Create Lists and manipulate the file in Global or Rapid Update.
Idea Value
With the file appearing in the dropdown list in Global/Rapid update, the file can be manipulated as usual AND users wouldn't have to remember to empty the Review File (which was only created so it could…36 votes -
Location Code 0 Displays as None in Checkout Location Field
With the recent changes that allow the label to display in the item record, staff now see the descriptive name of the statistical group in the checkout location. However, 0 displays as None and does not honor what is in the Statistical Group Maintenance table. We have ours labeled for Web Renewals and would like this display to honor what is in the table as opposed to saying 0 None.

Preferences font settings can affect catalog display
When you increase the font size to 20 for cataloging, it enlarges all the other information except the title line which remains the same. As a result, the title line appears smaller in comparison to the other information. It would be great is the title also displayed in the larger font.

Connect Global Update with Scheduler
We complete many repetitive tasks in cataloging and patron record management each day. This entails using Create Lists to generate the list, and then using Global Update to perform the same set of edits each time. We need Scheduler to be able to connect into Global Update to perform those tasks automatically.
This may require enhancement of Global Update to save the Command Input, or it might mean adding the Command Input choices to Scheduler.
Example:
Scheduler runs an updated Create List using a saved search query to identify items that need their suppression code updated.
It then uses a…26 votes -
Remove duplicate items on paging list
Duplicate instances of a single item frequently appear on Bib Paging Lists resulting in confusion and either wasted paper (up to 7 pages were printed for a single item once) or wasted time deleting those lines before printing. There is no need for the paging list to alert us to multiple holds for any item, especially if we can't physically fulfill those holds.

Save title and author info in reading history after title is deleted
Customers want to know what titles they've checked out even if the library no longer has it. It would be ideal if Sierra (and subsequent discovery layers can pull the info) could save the title and author in the record metadata so that even if the bib record is deleted, the customer can see it.

Correct 0 date values in SQL views to NULL values
In circtrans and finespaid views (and maybe more views) there are several dates that are showing a value of 0 (which displays as 1969-12-31 due to UNIX date formatting).
Dates do not have a value of 0, they can however, have a value of NULL, which is already how things work with other dates in the system, like the bib record cataloguingdategmt.
This should be fixed for any dates in the system, not because anyone may or may not vote for it, but because it is both inaccurate and inconsistent.
I logged this as a ticket,…

Allow use of spine label print templates in Create Lists
Spine Label Queues are only available in the current session and do not save. We are able to print spine labels (sheet or continuous) from Create Lists, but cannot apply print templates with this function. Can we either have the option to apply print templates when wanting to print batches of labels via Create Lists and/or have the option to hold on to our spine label queues for more than just the current session?

Alerts for when indexing stops
Currently there are no alerts when indexing stops working. We would like to see some put in place.
We recently had our keyword indexing stop working. It wasn't completely obvious to us for few months that there was a problem with indexing as it didn't seem to be every record.
Idea Value
Having an alert to III would save time troubleshooting if it's a metadata problem and raising tickets for something that could have an alert on it.37 votes
