Addition of "PA" Extension in Item Info Response
I propose an enhancement to the SIP2 protocol: including the "PA[PickupAreaDescription]" extension in the Item Info response (18). Currently, this valuable extension is only available in the check-in response. The key issue with the current setup is that when systems attempt a check-in to obtain the "PA" value, the check-in process completes, which can prematurely finalize item handling without allowing the system to decide if a check-in should be initiated based on the item's status or location.
Integrating the "PA" extension into the Item Info response would allow library systems to efficiently determine whether a check-in is necessary for items…

Change Bib Record Save workflow when using Remote Authority Control and Retain/Delete tag table
In our Retain/Delete table we remove certain subject headings with specific indicators. When we save a Bib record, the Remote Authority Control checks EVERY heading then removes the tags marked for deletion and checks the headings again.
It'd be more efficient, time-wise, if Polaris deleted the tags first, then perform the Remote Authority Control.

Go back to same place in PO
Unless I'm doing something wrong, when I am in a PO and go into a PO LINE to check ISBN, discount or whatever, I hit save and go back and it takes me to the top of the PO. Some of my PO's are really big so I'd like to know how to just go back to the spot I was at before instead of the top.

Improved Deny workflow needed in Leap
In Picklist, when you click deny next to a checked INN-Reach item, it disappears from the picklist. If the item is being denied because it was not on the shelf, we need a way to mark it as missing but can't get back to it when it disappears.
If we open the item record to change the status to missing and then return to picklist to check it and mark it missing, we get the attached error. Can you add another picklist view for items marked Denied so that staff have an easy way to do follow up? Thanks for…

Viewing vs Modifying Authority Records
Frontline staff currently have an alert to click through when they view an Authority record. Could there be separated permission levels to allow staff to View an Authority Record without clicking through the pop-up, vs Modifying these records?

Bulk Change Pickup Location for Held Items
We often have branches close unexpectedly due to facilities issues, when this happens we need to move the Held items from that branch to another branch. Currently there is no way to bulk change the pickup location between branches. This function would be very helpful for us.

(SMS - Cirriusimpact/third-party SMS) Flag patron account within Polaris when patron "opts out"
Reviewing the process of integrating Cirriusimpact at our library, we've encountered a notable issue: patrons opting out of text messaging and staff needing to adjust their notifications accordingly. Currently, we're relying on CGS to send daily email alerts when someone opts out, but it would be more convenient to add a non-blocking note to the Polaris account visible to all staff. This would ensure everyone is aware of a patron's preference change and simplify the search for patrons with similar notification settings.

Add ability to create status codes
We would like to be able to create status codes. We have renamed some we don't use to make them useful, but that is limited. We use in-repair for multiple problems and it would be better for our staff to be more specific. For example, it is used for items with bedbug damage that will definitely be leaving us and it would be good to know that at a glance, as opposed to DVDs that need to be resurfaced and are also in-repair along with books with missing pages or water damage, etc. So, instead of just the one status,…

Save collection and fund when adding segments to purchase order line items in Leap
Currently, when adding segments to a purchase order line item in Leap, the collection and fund reset whenever a new destination is selected. Since we are frequently adding multiple segments with the same collection and fund but different destinations, this forces acquisitions staff to have to scroll down and select the correct collection and fund for each segment. If the first selection of collection and fund "stuck" for each purchase order line item, it would be much faster to add multiple segments for items going to different destinations.

Include Address Verification in LEAP
All libraries would benefit if LEAP used address verification check, when feature is enabled in Polaris Client on the LEAP web app.

Allow bib bulk change steps to be applied to import profiles
Imagine the possibilities if we could automate the process of bulk changes to bib records as part of an import profile.
Other ILS systems offer robust manipulation of bib records upon import, but this is missing from Polaris.
By allowing bib bulk changes to be stored in templates, just like item bulk changes, we can streamline the process and save valuable time. Imagine having a set of predefined steps for importing bibs from specific sources or of certain record types. It would ensure consistency and accuracy, eliminating manual effort.
- Allow bib bulk changes to be stored in templates like item…

Bib record conversion from AACR2 to RDA
It would be a real timesaver if Polaris could automatically convert AACR2 records to RDA records upon import. Even if only partial changes could be made, it would be a big help to our catalogers.

When Receiving POs, Only Change Item Status to In-Process if Current Item Status Is On Order
It is frustrating that Polaris allows items that have not been received to circulate. There is probably not a connection between the PO status and the item status – but it sure would be nice if there was! We recently had an incident where items were distributed to branches before having been invoiced and received. A few days later when the invoice was processed, the items were all changed to a status of In-Process, even though they had already been checked out or were in a status of Being Held. It was very difficult to correct. One solution would be…

Separate Billing Interval for Different Material Types
There is currently only one setting that determines how long an item needs to be overdue before it reaches billed status and charges the patron for the cost of the item.
We would like to have different types of material reach billed status at shorter intervals. For example, we would like for a device that checks out for 4 hours to be billed on the patron record after 1 day, rather than the 63 day interval that we use for standard material. Similarly, we would like our hotspots to become billed after they have been overdue for 3 days.

API to Update Bibliographic Records
I'm specifically looking for a great integration between the cataloging tool BTCat and Polaris.
Libraries use tools like BTCat and Skyriver to search for new bib records and update/edit existing records. After making changes, the records currently have to be exported from the cataloging software, then imported into Polaris. These tools have the ability to "push" records into other ILS systems, skipping the need for a manual export/import of records. Adding this functionality would aid libraries in transitioning away from the Polaris desktop client (as bibliographic editing in Leap is a tedious process, at best).
22 votesWe actually added an endpoint to support this integration in Polaris 7.6 (BibsPost). We've been working with BTCat to consume the endpoint in their application.
I'm going to set this to "Planned" for now because the integration is not live with BTCat yet. But the development piece required for Polaris has been done. Please let BTCat know you are interested!!

Sort By options in Leap should match those available in Staff Client ex. Popularity
Our librarians make regular use the staff client's bibliographic option to sort by "most popular" when searching by author, particularly when supporting the needs of children and families. Please provide sort by options in Leap to match those available in the staff client.

Show warning dialog before deleting reading history
In the patron registration form in LEAP there is a reading history checkbox. If the patron has a reading history, clearing the checkbox and saving the record deletes that reading history permanently, and there is no warning to staff about what clearing the checkbox actually does. On clearing the checkbox, please add a warning dialog that says, "This patron's reading history will be permanently deleted. Please confirm that you want to delete it." [OK][Cancel] with focus on Cancel. This way staff will have to confirm overtly that they want to delete patron data and will be less likely to make…

Add more info to Waiver Request in Fines & Fees in Patron account in PAC
We think it would be helpful for patrons to see Waiver Requests as "Submitted" or "Pending", "Approved", and "Denied" for better understanding. See screenshot which illustrates the lack of that detail now.
