Exclude specific patron types from getting notices
Being in an academic library, we have certain patron types which function differently than other types. This applies particularly to the differences between a student patron type and a faculty patron type. It would be helpful for us to have the ability to exclude certain patron types from getting certain kinds of notices.

Correct 0 date values in SQL views to NULL values
In circtrans and finespaid views (and maybe more views) there are several dates that are showing a value of 0 (which displays as 1969-12-31 due to UNIX date formatting).
Dates do not have a value of 0, they can however, have a value of NULL, which is already how things work with other dates in the system, like the bib record cataloguingdategmt.
This should be fixed for any dates in the system, not because anyone may or may not vote for it, but because it is both inaccurate and inconsistent.
I logged this as a ticket,…

Add SMS message for password / PIN reset in addition to email
Currently when using the "forgot your PIN" reset PIN /Password function in the WebPAC the patron completes a pin reset form and then the system emails the patron with a link to the PIN Reset form.
We would like to see an option to SMS the patron with the link. This would be helpful for readers who have don't have access to their email / or have changed their email address.

Upgrade OpenSSH version
Currently INN-Reach and Sierra servers are bundled with OpenSSH 7.1, which is over 7 years old as of this writing. There is a sorting bug (https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2694) that impacts the Scheduler functionality that would be fixed by upgrading to at least OpenSSH 7.6. Also assume that multiple security vulnerabilities exist in 7.1.

Include perioidical issue information in overdue notices
We had a patron complaint that the email notices do not include magazine issue information, only the main title. The notices also do not include item barcodes, so there isn't any data to match against a specific issue. Could information from the Issue field in the item record be displayed in overdue notices?

Integrate with IMMS for placement information
Intergrating Sierra with IMMS, Sierra does not show the placement information from IMMS on item records. In particular, when the items are stored in chaotic placements such as hold shelves. This means that looking for an item on a hold shelf or other chaotic type location in Sierra, the user has to copy the barcode from Sierra to IMMS to pin point it's known location.
With further integration, it would be great to see placement information in Sierra to assist staff with helping customers find items on hold shelves in particular.

Preserve notice job sort between edits
Sierra does not preserve any applied sorts after a "Notices Job" Edit dialog is closed. Instead, jobs are re-sorted by job number. This makes it difficult to keep track of which jobs have been reviewed, and generally contributes to unnecessary frustration in the Notices function.
This improvement is related to "Arrange Saved Notice jobs" suggested by Kathy Setter, but instead of applying a custom arrangement I am asking for persistence on a short-term basis:
https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951745-ils-sierra/suggestions/46677958-arrange-saved-notice-jobsRationale:
When making changes to multiple notice jobs at once, it is often necessary to sort notice jobs (e.g., by template, location, or "auto") to…11 votesThe product team will review this idea for consideration for a future release.

Notice Count Should Be A Count Of Notices Not Items
Since becoming a III customer in 2008/2009, it's baffled me that we don't see a representation of the total number of notices sent daily via autonotices, but instead see the Notice History feature, which shows the number of items for which notices are sent.
I think it would be far more useful for statistical purposes if the number of notices sent for each notice type was what's recorded & shared by Sierra.

Increase Sierra Username Character Limit
We need to increase the number of characters allowed for the username - currently a maximum of 12. We prefer to keep our Sierra usernames the same as a user's network login name (one less thing to remember). Anything over 12 characters forces us to make a different Sierra username that fits within the Sierra parameters.

Print or create review file of only selected items in Headings Reports
In Headings Reports, it would be useful to send only selected listings to a printer or to export as a new review file. Currently if you try to select only a few of the total shown, it will print or export the entire report, not the selected listings.

MARC tag - exporting
When exporting MARC tags, export should have all the subfields marked. Now that I try to export say 041, I can´t see if the language code is in a, b or d... And this would be important to know as it is not the same to have say |a fin |h eng and |a fin |a eng.

MFT support in data exchange
Prior to Sierra 6.0 and the introduction of MFT, it was possible to use FTP to transfer files though data exchange within Sierra. This is no longer possible as MFT is not supported in data exchange.
Please add support for MFT in data exchange in the same way as support for MFT has been added in scheduler.11 votes -
provide indication when there are new/cancelled orders to be posted
Staff are often confused by the need to post in order for new/cancelled orders to be reflected in their funds, particularly as the system does not provide an indication that those changes need to be committed. These are included when you select post all within the pay an invoice function (which staff won't look at if they aren't actively paying an invoice) but they do not appear listed within any of the 10 payment sessions or under funds adjustments.
Adding an entry for perhaps some more prominent indicator that funds may not reflect current totals will help greatly to remind…

Increase Invoice Cap
The current cap of 99 invoices downloadable per day can impede & dictate staff workflows.
Because of this, our Acquisitions staff must also set limits with vendors like Baker & Taylor, as we can receive more than 99 in a day. It would be optimal if they could download at will up to invoice limit.
Not all shipments are dealt with sequentially, which further complicates matters.

Release Item Price Field in Sierra Item Record for SIP2
Libraries using SIP2 connections for self-checks cannot have due slips that have "You Saved" information because the Item Price field is not available via SIP2.
While due slips with this information can be used at a staff station with the SDA, as more and more libraries move to self-check, the lack of this field's availability in SIP2 is a barrier.
Use case: a library has a self-check machine that uses SIP2 and wants to include "You Saved" information on their due slips.

Allow notices to be sent to e-mail addresses entered in separate fields.
In Sierra we have to add additional e-mail addresses comma separated in the same field for Print template notices to be sent to more than one address.
Right now we are implementing Vega Discover and there patrons can add additional e-mail addresses. They end up in separate e-mail fields in Sierra though and doesn´t work for Print template notices.
The integration built for us between IMMS and Sierra does pick up addresses from all e-mail fields to send out pick up notices for holds. So it would be great if this could also be the case for Print template-notices from…

Limit Pickup Location Based on Item Type
We have three pickup locations: lockers, curbside and hold pickup shelves inside the library. For our Library of Things item type we would want to eliminate the lockers as an option because they cannot hold those items because of space.

Preferences font settings can affect catalog display
When you increase the font size to 20 for cataloging, it enlarges all the other information except the title line which remains the same. As a result, the title line appears smaller in comparison to the other information. It would be great is the title also displayed in the larger font.

SIP2 support for NCIP check in
Currently when NCIP items are returned via a sorter, SIP2 is not able to check them in. This results confusion for staff and patrons, as when staff check in the item it traps the hold once again. Currently, the only solution is to re-check out every item returned through a sorter to the patron, and then re-check it in via SDA, which adds to overall workload.
