Add a new filter to the heading report to exclude suppressed records
Currently at the time of creating the header report it is possible to exclude records without CAT DATE. We request to add a new filter to the heading report from the fixed field "Bib Code 3" in order to exclude bibliographic records with the value pending validation (supressed records from webpac).

More reliable data around Holds: Don't delete Holds in the `holds_removed` Sierra DNA table!
Data in the
hold_removed
table is being deleted before the 60-day retention period is up in situations where staff clear the hold shelf, and an entry in thehold_removed
table is indicated to be "picked up". This is unexpected and not helpful in the task of gathering more data related to holds.I propose the following changes...
Retention Period: Entries are being removed from the hold_removed table before the default 60-day retention period is up. I propose that data should remain in this table, as it represents the lifecycle of a hold and the recorded event that removed an active…

Batch item addition to bib records in a review file?
Can we have a feature in Global Update that allows us to attach item records to bib records from a review file? For example, we discovered we had a batch of 50 bib records without items (these were electronic and just need an item all with the same location code) but now I have to go through each one and individually attach. It would be great to do this in one fell swoop.

Browse Display in SDA - Allow Ability to Customize or Expand
We would like the ability to customize the "browse display" where the result of records show up after the indexed search. Specifically, we'd like the option to show fields that are only available if you make the effort to expand the display.
Currently, the description column shows the indexed entry, title, author, ISBN, Call Number and location. The pub year would be helpful (as would the 490) for when staff is asked for an author's next book in a series, and they don't know the series title, just the author's name. Especially authors who have multiple series. So for our…9 votes -
Create Lists - Saved Searches - Ability to Rename, Show Creator, Last Used
We repeatedly run up against our limit of saved searches in Create Lists. There are probably saved queries created long ago that no one is using/needs. I was hoping to assign staff to review the queries and put their initials in the saved search name, but when you go to Edit, you can only edit the query, not the query name (like you can a review file). Ideally it would work like the review files themselves, when you can see who last ran the list (initials, date and time). And perhaps apply the "Own" option. This would really help to…

Ability to disable a user with one click in Admin Corner
The ability to log into admin corner, view all users and with one click disable them (not delete, but deny them log in access) would be helpful for those with revolving part time employees.
We have student employees that change out regularly, but sometimes they come back as graduate student help, etc within a short time.
Being able to simply turn off an employees access and review it within a year or less to determine if it should be deleted or held would be helpful for keeping our staff accounts cleaned up.

AI Clean Up Functionality - Sierra
I understand that III is planning to incorporate AI functionality into the Vega platform (newsletter text, website content, etc...). I think it would be really useful to have AI data cleanup functionality developed for Sierra.
I'm not sure exactly what this would look like but here are some potential ways this could improve catalog metadata:
- catalog record cleanup (bad codes, incorrect codes, codes inconsistent with local practices for similar records, etc...)
- patron record cleanup (bad codes, codes inconsistent with similar-type accounts, etc...)
- automatic tagging of demographic (we use one of the patron codes to indicate reciprocal library…8 votesThis idea will be reviewed by the product management team for possible inclusion in a future release.

add "did you mean" search logic to SDA keyword search
Circulation staff would like to see "did you mean" logic applied to the SDA keyword search. This is the top complaint from circulation staff who search the database to help customers place holds. Staff are used to a Google (or Discovery Catalogue) keyword search that has some flexibility for human error.

Spending Limit Pop-Up
I know its shocking when the subject of pop-ups in Sierra comes up that anyone would want "MORE!," but our Acquisitions staff would like to see a warning of fund spending over limit at invoicing in addition to ordering.
Their rationale is that shipping & Mylar costs usually cannot be pre-determined. Once posting happens, the fund goes negative. Since there is no going back, like when you're about to go down the chute at the end of Splash Mountain, there should be a warning.

Make Vendor Payment Info More Readily Accessible
The vendor payment address should be accessible at invoice payment function. Currently, the invoicing function needs to be closed & address information accessed at order record, vendor, etc.

Release Item Price Field in Sierra Item Record for SIP2
Libraries using SIP2 connections for self-checks cannot have due slips that have "You Saved" information because the Item Price field is not available via SIP2.
While due slips with this information can be used at a staff station with the SDA, as more and more libraries move to self-check, the lack of this field's availability in SIP2 is a barrier.
Use case: a library has a self-check machine that uses SIP2 and wants to include "You Saved" information on their due slips.

Protect local-only MARC fields that have a specific subfield coding
There are instances where its appropriate to put in a MARC field in the bibliographic record that only pertains to your local institution and you wouldn't want that field erased if the record was overlaid. If that MARC field was designated a local-note, using a $5 then that field would be "protected".

Separate summary view property for each of the search functions
When a Sierra SDA login is first created the system utilizes individual summary view properties for the various search functions. By default in cataloging if you open up the summary view of a record you see item records, in search/holds you see holds, in place orders you see orders and in serials checkin you see checkin records.
If you opt to change that setting however from the record view properties menu (say to change this to view all) it can impact all 4 search functions. It would be better to split this menu out, so that the setting for each…

Current Location variable-length field in item records
Libraries with varied types of media in their collections require more location information associated with items than a shelfmark. We would like to see a Current Location field as standard in the item record. This field must be included in the data libraries for item paging notices as retrievals staff will need this information on retrievals lists/slips.
Idea Value
To record the exact location of items within the buildings, which will facilitate retrieval of less standard items or special collections items that are not easily stored in a standard sequence. Current location data is essential for museums accreditation.8 votesThis idea will be reviewed by the Innovative product team for consideration in planning the upcoming product roadmap.

Include hourly patron borrowing reports in Decision Center
We use the hourly patron borrowing reports in Web Management Reports to track patron visits at offsite hold lockers. We would like to have this report migrated to Decision Center since this is the tool already in use by our frontline staff.

Insert name, date of birth and address using an ID scanner
I am wondering if Sierra can be adapted to automatically insert name, date of birth and address using an id scanner, such as those used at grocery stores when verifying a person's age. This would save staff the time of manually entering this information into the appropriate fields. It would also allow less typos and/or other mistakes when inputting the information. Of course, having the manual option would still be necessary.

Check out circulation desk - add filter for home library or statistical group
We have a large consortia set up. Many clients are not required to bring their library card to the library circulation desk/s. When the library staff are searching for patrons with common surnames, quickly identifying their branch's patrons can be difficult - staff suggest adding a filter for home library or limiting the browse to their statistical group in their logins will limit the number of mistaken attempts to open the incorrect borrower record.

Manage Reading History through RESTAPI
Currently patrons can opt in and out of Reading History our public catalog (Bibliocore) but we get many requests from patrons who want to manage that reading history by removing items from Reading History but the RESTAPI doesn't allow users to do that, they have to log into their accounts on WebPac in order to manage the titles in that history. We would like to see full Reading History management currently available in WebPac added to the RESTAPI.

Checkout : ability to place bib level holds on titles listed in a search result
Customers still want staff to place bib level holds for them at the circulation desk. In checkout it is fantastic that staff can search the catalogue to place holds, but they often don't want to view every bibliographic record before placing the hold.
Customers asking for assistance at the circulation desk often have complex needs. They are looking to place holds on a number of titles within a series or they found the Discovery Catalogues did not meet their needs.
It would save staff a lot of time at the circulation desk if they could place holds on the titles…

Increase Character Limits for Data Fields
The Notice Type data field in the Text of Circulation Notices table is a mere 20 characters long. As we've had to create a number of new notices for temporary changes in operating hours, policies, etc., due to COVID, we'd like to make the description a bit more descriptive than 20 characters allows.
Also, because you cannot delete any of the old/test notice types, you already have to use up some of the characters to note that it's old/test/not used.
This runs along the same lines as Loan rules: increase the limit beyond 20 characters to loan rule names. This…
